About this winery

In the heart of Piedmont, in the town of San Martino Alfieri, the Marchesi Alfieri estate embodies centuries of winemaking history and Italian elegance. Production notes

Thinning of the clusters in the first half of August at the onset of veraison. Yield per vine: 1.2–1.4 kg. Manual harvesting of the grapes into crates in the second half of September. Selection and inspection of the grapes on the sorting table, followed by gentle destemming and crushing. Fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 28–30 °C for 12–15 days with delestage and gentle pumping over. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, followed by transfer to French oak barrels and barriques (Allier and Tronçais).

Tasting notes

Intense ruby red color with purple hues. Intense, vinous aroma with notes of ripe plum and a hint of vanilla from the oak. Full-bodied, dense, and smooth on the palate, with a balance of spicy notes, vanilla from the oak, and red fruit. It evolves and expresses itself well for 6–8 years in the bottle.
